Tips Before Traveling Periyar National Park
On the mountain ranges of the Western Ghats, in the land of the gods, Kerala, lies the Periyar National Park and the Tiger Nature Reserve. The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is located in a vast and picturesque lake in the heart of the reserve. This river basin, formed after the construction of a dam in 1895, surrounded by wooded hills, is a permanent resource of water, precious for the entire wildlife in the area. Flora is predominantly made up of marshy grasslands. Forests are a mixture of grasslands, low fireproof vegetation, deciduous forests, evergreen seeds and tropical evergreens. It is necessary to pay attention to the leeches, which here abound.
