Tips Before Traveling Periyar National Park
On the mountain ranges of the Western Ghats, in the land of the gods, Kerala, lies the Periyar National Park and the Tiger Nature Reserve. The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is located in a vast and picturesque lake in the heart of the reserve. This river basin, formed after the construction of a dam in 1895, surrounded by wooded hills, is a permanent resource of water, precious for the entire wildlife in the area. Despite being a natural reserve of the tiger, visitors come here to watch the Indian elephants bathe and play at the Periyar lake.
